Here it is, the rejection letter for my first classic, ‘Mr Plum and Mr Apple'.
I was 9 years old at the time, the story was written on Basildon Bond note paper (not the posh one, I didn't get much pocket money!) and I still have it in the loft to this day.
What a nice letter to receive though, I thought this was really supportive and encouraging, even then.
And yes, I did join the Puffin Club 🙂
